In 2017, John O’Rourke served as lead structural engineer for the design and construction of seven high-end, four-story condominium buildings in Sun Valley, Idaho.
The project encompassed the design of comprehensive framing systems and custom structural components, including concrete retaining foundations, steel column, and beam systems, and wood timber framing.
Regional environmental conditions—such as substantial snow loads, seismic forces, and avalanche risk—presented complex design challenges, particularly in accommodating expansive window systems while maintaining structural integrity, safety, and resilience.
